DG-808C Competition

The DG-808C motorglider is the elder statesman of motorgliders.  It can be flown in both the 15m and 18m competition classes.  The powerful Solo 2-625-01 engine and the state-of-the-art wing design allows for outstanding climb capabilities and superior soaring performance.  Standard equipment includes:

  • DEI-NT (New Technology) provides graphic display for simplified engine control including engine and flight time log, stall, airbrake, and landing gear warning and many other functions.
  • Steerable tail wheel
  • (OAT) Outside air temperature gauge
  • Reinforced safety cockpit
  • New reinforced landing gear with large steel springs
  • Bug wiper preparation insets at wing roots
  • Built-in refueling pump with automatic shut-off
  • Max. weight increased to 600 kg for 18m and 540 kg for 15m span
  • 150 liter water ballast tanks with 6.5 liter fin tank volume

An emergency bail-out aid system, wing parting for 15m configuration, disc brake, stowable taxi wheel for wing tip, additional battery, custom interiors, as well as many other innovations are available as options.

Safety Cockpit

The pilot is protected in a thoroughly tested safety cockpit with an integral inner seat shell.  The energy absorbing design is of double wall glass fiber construction.  The seat shell engineered specifically for very long comfortable flights.  The DG-808C comes with adjustable backrest and integrated headrest.

Canopy

The long canopy, equipped with a Röger hook for jettisoning, has uncompromised visibility and keeps your feet warm at altitude. The Röger hook ensures the front of the canopy separates first forcing the airstream to peal the canopy up and away so not to injure the pilot.

Under Carriage

The DG-808C Competition comes with a large 5.00-5 main wheel and a 200x50 steerable tail wheel.  This combination really makes a difference for maneuvering while taxiing.

Winglets

The DG-808 series comes standard with 18m wings.  The 15m wingtips with winglets and winglets for the 18m wingspan are also an option.  Flight tests have shown a 1.5 point gain in L/D and a slightly lower minimum sink rate with the use of winglets.

Water Ballast

The DG-808 Competition is especially adaptable to changing weather condition due to two independant water ballast systems in the wings and tail fin.
